Supervision for Healers and Counselors
We cannot guide others to places we’ve never gone ourselves. Being a truly exceptional healer isn’t just about acquiring knowledge or skill—it’s about cultivating a refined artistry, a deep, nuanced relationship with one’s chosen modality. Developing excellence in healing work requires the presence of someone who is actively helping to shape the healer.
For nearly 20 years, I’ve served as a supervisor to countless holistic practitioners and psychotherapists. While supervision—one-on-one mentoring—has traditionally been reserved for clinicians, it is equally vital for anyone engaged in the healing arts.
If you’re working with clients of your own, it’s essential to have a space where you can unpack and reflect on how you’re approaching your work, how you’re showing up, and what your sessions are evoking within you. Supervision becomes a kind of think-tank, where we dive into the specific dynamics of your client relationships and craft thoughtful strategies for their care.
In my experience, many psychotherapists eventually find themselves opening to deeper spiritual dimensions and seek guidance in integrating that into their clinical work. Conversely, many energy workers and spiritual practitioners lack foundational psychological insight that could bring greater clarity and effectiveness to their healing practice. Our work bridges that gap.
Together, we’ll explore ethical considerations and standards of practice, engage with a wide range of spiritual and psychological approaches, and cover topics like building a thriving practice, self-care, energetic hygiene, and even professional messaging and presence.
Ultimately, all healing traditions trace back to shamanic roots. Our supervision may include working with natural cycles, shamanic journeying and altered states, spirit guides, divination tools, and weaving in current social and ecological realities as part of a dynamic, integrative healing practice.
